"In the name of God, Amen. I, Robert Sanders, of Albany, merchant, being in good health, May 17, 1765.

I direct all debts to be paid. I leave to my only son, Peter Sanders, my gold signet ring and two guns of his choice, "and my silver beaker, whereon my name is engraved," and a silver mug, and my large silver spoons, and my large Dutch Bible, "my Schrictoor" (escritoire) standing in the little chamber, and all my apparel, linen and woolen, for his Primogeniture.

I leave to my eldest daughter Maria my Negro wench, "and my silver Tankard, upon which is engraved the name of my father and mother in a Cypher." Also 6 silver spoons and a silver salt cellar, a diamond ring and 1/4 of my late wife's wearing apparel.

I leave to my daughter Catharine my gold necklace of three chains thick, and my silver ring, a silver porringer, six silver spoons, a silver salt cellar, silver wine server, and 1/4 of my wife's wearing apparel. I leave to my daughter Deborah a silver Tankard marked R.E.S., and six silver spoons and a tumbler, and 1/4 of my wife's apparel.

I leave to my youngest daughter Elizabeth my silver Tankard with the letters R.G. " in Sypher on the cover," and my silver teapot marked C.G., and six tablespoons, and 1/4 of my wife's apparel, and a silver salt cellar.

I leave to my five children, Peter, Maria, Catharine, Deborah, and Elizabeth, my Negro man and woman, and all the rest of my goods and personal property. (The children were all under age.) When my youngest child is of age, the executors are to make a full division with all my lands in Ulster County. I leave to my son Peter all my lands, messuages and tenements in Albany in the Manor of Rensselaerwyck, " and on an Island in the Hudson river called by the name of Brickers Island, " and in Duchess County, now or late in the occupation of my cousin, Jacob Sanders. All the rents, issues, and profits to remain for the use of my five children of which he is one, until my youngest child is of age.

I make my brother, John Sanders, and Stephen Van Rensselaer, executors."
