Margarita Winne Van Ness

by

Margarita Winne was born in October 1719. She was a middle daughter in the large family of Pieter and Maria De Foreest Winne. Perhaps her father was a freeholder in Schaghticoke in 1720.

During the 1740s, she married Hendrick G. Van Ness at the Albany Dutch church. Between 1747 and 1751, the marriage had produced three children - at least two of whom died in early childhood.

These Van Nesses appear to have settled into a middling life in Albany's third ward.

However, the life of Margarita Winne ended when the fifty-five-year-old "wife of Hend. Van Ness" was buried from the church in December 1754.
