by

Sara Van Zandt was born in February 1724. She was an older daughter of Johannes and Sara Hilton Van Zandt. She grew up as part of a large family in a weaver's home in the first ward. Her mother's death in 1743 destined her to help raise many younger ubrothers and sisters.

In June 1751, she married Albany native Lucas Yates at the Albany Dutch church Their marriage does not seem to have produced any children although both parents were pewholders at the Albany church. During the 1750s, she witnessed a number of baptisms with either her father or brother.

These Yateses made their home in the first ward where Lucas followed the family blacksmith trade.

Lucas Yates filed a will January 1766. Sara was named sole executrix and beneficiary. He was dead by the end of February. We seek information on her later life and passing.
