Alida Van Zandt Hooghkerk
Alida Van Zandt was born in January 1773. She was the daughter of Johannes and Margaret Wilkenson Van Zandt. She grew up as a younger child in the very large family (perhaps she was one of fifteen) of a prominent Albany weaver.
Thus, in 1790, she would have been one of seven females accounted for on the census of her father's first ward household.
In July 1792, Alida was not yet twenty when she married her older first ward neighbor Jacobus Hooghkerk at the Albany Dutch church. By 1810, the marriage had produced nine children who were christened at the Albany church.
