Geertruy Van Patten was the wife of Albany merchant John Robison. Probably a Schenectady native and born about 1747, by 1782 she was married and had settled into Robison's comfortable life in the center of Albany's business district.

These Robisons kept a landmark store at the city's main intersection. In 1779, she was cited by the revolutionaries for selling restricted items. In time, their home was on Dock (Dean) Street while the store continued to operate at 29 State Street.

Her family included four or more children baptized in Schenectady and at the Albany Presbyterian church where her husband was a member.

Geertruy Van Patten Robison died in August 1823 at age 76. Her husband lived four more years!
