Catharina Van Dyck was born in October 1695. She was the daughter of Albany physician Hendrick Van Dyck and his wife Maria Schuyler Van Dyck. Her father died unexpectedly in 1707 leaving Catharina to help her mother raise a large family.

In November 1717, she married Albany native Isaac Wendell. By 1739, their ten children had been baptized at the Albany Dutch church.

These Wendells lived in Albany's first ward.

Catharina Van Dyck Wendell may have lived into the 1750s as a number of "Widow Wendell's" appear on the census of 1756.
