Geertruy Visscher was born in July 1691. She was the daughter of Albany residents Dirck Harmanse and Jemmetje Visscher.

In December 1721, she married blacksmith Martin Beekman at the Albany Dutch church. By 1752, five of their children had been baptized there where she was an occasional baptism sponsor.

In 1762, she was left a bequest from the estate of her brother. In September 1768, she filed a joint will with her husband. It stated that she was "sound and in perfect mind." Geertruy Visscher Beekman had passed on by August 1784 when the will cleared probate.
