Susanna Switts Van Ness
by
Stefan Bielinski

Susanna Switts was born in 1717 or 1718. She was the daughter of Schenectady expatriates Cornelis and Hester Visscher Switts. After her family moved to Albany, Susanna grew up in a large family in Albany's third ward.

In February 1738, she married Cornelis Van Ness at the Albany Dutch church. By 1755, four children were baptized in Albany.

This Van Ness family also lived in Albany's third ward. In November 1762, she was left a share of the estate of her uncle, Jacob Visscher. She died sometime afterwards.
