Rachel Slingerland Van Hoesenby
Rachel Slingerland was born before 1680. She was the daughter of Teunis Cornelisse and his first wife Engeltie Bradt Slingerland. She grew up in family homes in Albany and on the Normanskill. In January 1701, she married Casper Van Hoesen at the Albany Dutch Church where she had been a member since 1695. By 1719, seven children had been christened in the church where she was an occasional baptism sponsor. For two decades, this Van Hoesen family lived in the first ward. Perhaps they relocated to Coxsackie in southern Albany County about 1720. Rachel Slingerland Van Hoesen was last heard from in Albany at the baptism of her last child in September 1719.
