Amelia Sanders was born in May of 1680. She was a younger daughter of the marriage of Robert and Elsie Barents Sanders. Her prominent and upwardly mobile early American family lived in several places in the province of New York as Amelia grew up in New York, the mid-Hudson, and in Albany.
In September 1705, she married a much older Johannes Pruyn at her widowed mother's Albany house. The marriage produced at least three children by 1714 who were christened at the Albany Dutch church where their mother was a member, pewholder, and occassional baptism sponsor.
Amelia Sanders Pruyn lost her husband in 1749. She was buried from the Albany church in October 1760.
