Sara Ryckman Myndertse (VI)
by
Stefan Bielinski

Sara Ryckman was born in December 1723. She was the daughter of Schenectady residents Wilhelmus and Anna Wyngaert Ryckman.

She was almost twenty-eight when she married a slightly younger Marte Myndertse (Van Iveren) at the Albany Dutch church in November 1751. By 1767, four children had been christened in Albany. Perhaps her marriage also accounted for her younger brother and sisters relocating to Albany prior to the Revolutionary War.

These Van Iverens lived in a modest home on Hudson Street where Marte Mindertse supported his family by practicing the blacksmith's trade.

After a marriage of almost forty years, Sara Ryckman Myndertsen died in February 1791 and was buried in the Dutch church plot. Her husband lived until 1806.
