Johannes Ja. Roseboom

by

Johannes Ja. Roseboom was born in February 1719. He was the son of Jacob and Geertruy Isabella Lydius. He grew up in a medical practitioner's family in the first ward. He was known as "Johannes Ja." to distinguish him from several same-named kin.

In May 1740, he married brewer's daughter Magtel Ryckman at the Albany Dutch church. Their son was born in November of that year.

In 1747, Johannes witnessed the will of his wife's uncle. Three years later, he was named co-executor of the estate of brewer Harmanus Ryckman.

In 1765, his wife was named a principal beneficiary of her father's estate. No mention of Johannes Ja. Roseboom was made in that document - implying that he was deceased. His widow lived on for several decades.
