Daniel Rinckhout

by

By his own admission, Daniel Rinckhout was born in Holland about 1626. He emigrated to New Netherland with his brother, Jan, and was living in a rented house in Beverwyck by the late 1650s. The Rinckhouts were said to have been bakers.

In 1660, his name appeared on a petition signed by traders who wanted to engage the Indians in the woods beyond Beverwyck.

Daniel Rinckhout filed a will in August 1662. He stated he was a bachelor and thirty-six-years-old. He named two brothers as his heirs. His estate included real and personal property. He left his Albany house to Jan Rinckhout and his property in the Netherlands to Adrian. He was still baking and acquiring real property in Albany in 1667.

Perhaps he died when his canoe capsized on Lake Champlain that same year.
