Anna Marshall Abel

Anna Marshall was born in February 1752. She was the daughter of Albany residents Pieter and Anna Flensburgh Marshall.

In August 1771, she married German newcomer Andrew Abel at the Albany Dutch church. By 1793, seven children had been christened in Albany.

These Abels made their home in Albany's North End where Andrew practiced the leather trade.

Andrew Abel died in October 1793 leaving Anna with a large family of small children and her coming-of-age first son. In 1800, she was listed as the head of her Watervliet household while also maintaining her husband's lot in the second ward.

Anna/Johanna/Susanna Marshall Abel lived with her family in the home at 10 Orange Street until her death in May 1828 at the age of seventy-six.
