Johannes Lansing, Jr.

Johannes Lansing, Jr. was born in September 1687. He was the son of Albany trader Jan Lansing and the widow Geertje Van Schaick Coster Lansing. He was only one of a number of family members referred to as "John Lansing, Jr."

In June 1714, he married Geertruy Schuyler - a daughter of the first mayor of Albany. By 1733, the marriage had produced seven children.

In 1714, he was a member of a troop in the Albany County Militia. Like his father, he served on the Albany city council. In 1716, he was elected assistant alderman for the second ward and served until 1722.

In 1720, 1742, and 1763, he was identified as a freeholder living in the second ward of the city of Albany.

In August 1747, he was named executor of the will of his brother-in-law.

Johannes Lansing, Jr. was alive in 1763. His wife lived until 1774.
