Helena Lansing Van Rensselaer

by

Helena Lansing was born in February 1743. She was the daughter of Jacob J. and Maria Egberts Lansing. She grew up in a merchant's home on the North End of Albany.

In February 1764, she married widower Jeremiah Van Rensselaer at the Albany Dutch church. The marriage does not seem to have produced children.

These Van Rensselaers were prominent residents of Pearl Street for the next three decades. During that time, Jeremiah Van Rensselaer served in the United States Congress and later as lieutenant governor of New York State.

Helena Lansing Van Rensselaer died in July 1795 and was buried from her church. Her husband lived until 1810 and remembered her fondly in his will written three years earlier.
