Geertruy Lansing Gerritsen

Geertruy Lansing was born in November 1684. She was the daughter of Johannes G.Lansing and his first wife Geertruy Van Schaick - the widow of Hendrick Coster. She grew up in a large combined family in a landmark home on Pearl Street.

In April 1704, she appears to have been married Ryer Gerritse at her father's house in Albany. However, their marriage of almost fifty years appears to have been childless. Both partners were members of the Albany Dutch church and regular baptism sponsors.

These Gerritsens lived in the first ward where Ryer was a prominent trader and Albany official over many decades until his death in 1752.

Ryer Gerritse filed a will in 1747. It named Geertruy as his principal heir

Geertruy Lansing Gerritsen died in April 1754 and was buried in the churchyard. She had lived almost seventy years.
