Maria Kidney Cole

by

Maria Kidney was born in December 1721. She was the first child born to the marriage of Roeloff and Engeltie Burger Kidney. She grew up in a very large family in the home of a Southside cooper.

In December 1743, she married newcomer Lambert Kool at the Albany Dutch church. By 1754, four children had been christened in Albany where both parents were occasional baptism sponsors.

For the next few decades, this Cole family lived modestly in Albany's first ward.

However, by March 1779, Lambert Cole was dead and his widow's property in the first ward was valued on the city assessment roll.
