Christina Kittle Van Wie

by

Christina Kittle was the wife of Albany resident Isaac Van Wie. From subsequent internal and online resources, we infer that she was born about 1783. We seek defining information on her origins and path to Albany. In 1790, Kittles were represented by several households in the Albany hinterland. We have not established a connection to the regionally prominent Ketelhuyn family.

In April 1803, she married Isaac Van Wie at the Albany Dutch church. Their marriage probably produced more than one child.

These Van Wies may have begun married life in Bethlehem. Her husband was identified as a mason on Albany's south side for the next two decades.

On December 13, 1826, the Albany newspaper reported that "Christina, wife of Isaac Van Wie, died, aged 43." Followed by "Relatives, friends and acquaintances of deceased are requested to attend her funeral this afternoon at 2 pm. from the residence of her husband in Hamilton Street."
