Mary Gale Willett
by
Stefan Bielinski

Mary Gale was born about 1740.

In August 1762, she married Edward Willett. Beginning in 1767, five children were baptized at the Albany Dutch church before Willett's death in 1774. At that point, Mary became the matriarch of the Willett family in Albany.

In 1768, she had joined St. Peter's Anglican church. The Albany assessment roll dated March 1779 called her widow Willett and assessed her holdings at $200. The names of Elbert Jr., John Cobham, and Henry Tremper were recorded beneath her name.

Mary Gale Willett's name dropped from Albany rolls after 1779.
