Cornelia Gardinier Marselis

by

Cornelia Gardinier (aka "Neeltie") was born in November 1731. She was the daughter of regional residents Andries and Sara (?) Gardinier. Perhaps, she was his second wife. In 1720, an "Andries Gardinier" was identified as a freeholder of Rensselaerswyck.

About 1755, she married Schenectady native Johannes Marselis, Jr. By 1762, three children had been christened at the Albany Dutch church where she was an occasional baptism sponsor.

These Marselises began to raise their family in a home on Pearl Street.

Perhaps, Neeltie was dead by 1770 when her husband may have re-married.

We seek definitive information on the passing of one-time Albany wife Cornelia Gardinier Marselis.
