Catharina Groesbeck Van Woert

by

Catharina Groesbeck was born about 1660. She probably was the daughter of Beverwyck newcomers Claase Jacobse and Elizabeth Stevens Groesbeck. She grew up in a carpenter's home on Pearl Street.

About 1683, she married Jacob Teunise Van Woert. Their first child was christened in June 1684 and was named for her father. He may have been their only child.

These Van Woerts lived on the North End of Albany.

Their marriage was not a long one as Catharina Groesbeck Van Woert was dead by October 1690 when Jacob Teunise re-married. She probably lived for less than twenty-five years. In 1707, her father's will provided for her children.
