Rebecca Conyn Fonda

by

Rebecca Conyn was born about 1650. She was the daughter of Leendert Phillipse and Agnietie Conyn. She grew up in Beverwyck where her father was a prominent householder, tradesman, and fur trader.

About 1666, she married Douw Jellis Fonda. By 1692, the marriage produced nine children who were christened at the Albany Dutch church where she was a member and occasional baptism sponsor.

These Fondas lived in Albany just outside the north gate.

Rebecca lost her husband in 1700. Rebecca Conyn Fonda died in June 1727 and was buried from her Albany church.
