Jane Cooper Hansen

by

Jane Cooper was born in September 1781. She was one of the seven daughters born to the marriage of Obadiah and Anna Vandenbergh Cooper. She grew up in the home of a Market Street merchant.

In July 1798, she married Isaac Hansen at the Albany Dutch church. Perhaps six children were christened there after 1800.

These Hansens raised their family in the third ward where Isaac practiced law and was a member of the city council. In 1813, their address was given as 23 Steuben Street.

Jane Cooper Hansen died in January 1815. She had lived but thirty-three years. Her husband passed in 1818. Both were buried in the Dutch church cemetery plot.
