JOHN ANTHONY ZEILMAN

John Zeilman (1795-1852), as "Anthony," enlisted in the US Army on 11 July 1814 and was discharged 11 July 1819. According to his entry in Registerof Enlistments in the US Army, Zeilman served at the Watervliet Arsenal as an Artificer – a soldier employed in the manufacture of arms and military materiel.

Zeilman's father was a Hessian soldier. He married Elizabeth Luther of Albany, daughter of Revolutionary War soldier John Luther. He was buried in the Zeilman Family Burying Ground south of Albany, now gone.
