Margaret Wendell Cuyler

by

Margaret Wendell was born in October 1748. She was the daughter of Robert and Catharina Winne Wendell. She grew up as a younger child in the large family of an Albany-area couple with ties to Lansingburgh.

In the spring of 1768, she married Albany native Abraham N. Cuyler. By 1782, six children had been christened at the Albany Dutch church where she was a member, pewholder, and regular baptism sponsor.

These Cuylers made their home on upper State Street where Abraham followed his father in business.

Margaret Wendell Cuyler ("Abraham N. Cuyler's wife") died in January 1794 and was buried from her church. Her husband later re-married as his widow (second wife Elizabeth) died in 1842.
