Elsie Wendell Schuyler

Elsie Wendell was born in April 1689. She was the the last child born to the marriage of Albany mainstays Jeronimus and Ariantie Visscher Wendell. Her father died during the 1690s and her mother raised a family in their upper State Street home.

In December 1714, she married New York native Nicholas Schuyler. By 1733, eight children had been christened at the Dutch churches in Albany and Schenectady.

By 1720, this Schuyler family was living in Schenectady where Nicholas was known as a surveyor and Indian trader who was elected to the provincial Assembly in 1727.

After a one-day illness, Elsie Wendell Schuyler died in April 1744. Her husband re-married and lived until 1748.
