Catharina Wendell Schuyler

by

Catharina Wendell probabaly was born during the late 1670s. She was the daughter of Johannes and his second wife, Elsie Staats Wendell. Her father was a rising merchant and Albany leader who died in 1692 before Catharina reached adulthood. Her mother re-married in 1695 and survived for several more decades.

In 1691, she was named among the many heirs to her father's substantial estate.

In 1696, she became a member of the Albany Dutch church. In May 1700, she married twenty-five-year-old Jacobus Schuyler.

The marriage, however, was short-lived as she was buried by her church in April 1701. Catharina Wendell Schuyler had lived less than thirty years. Her husband re-married in 1704 but he too died in 1707.
