Catharina Waldron Van Deusen

by

Catharina Waldron was born in September 1722. She was the daughter of William and Elizabeth Beekman Waldron. This eldest daughter grew up as part of a large family in the first ward home of a mason and local office holder.

In April 1745, she married Rensselaerswyck native Arent Van Deusen at the Albany Dutch church. By 1751, the marriage had produced three daughters.

This Van Deusen family made its home in the first ward from where Arent followed his father-in-law in masonary work and through a career that would last until almost the end of the century. However, he would be a widower for much of that time.

The "wife of Arent Van Deusen" was buried from the Albany Dutch church in January 1760. Catharina Waldron Van Deusen had lived only thirty-eight years. Her father's will, filed in 1768, provided for Tryntie's two living daughters. Her husband survived until 1792.
