Anna Willems Ketelhuyn
by
Stefan Bielinski

Anna Willems Ketelhuyn was the matriarch of the Ketelhuyn family of Beverwyck and early Albany.

She married Beverwyck resident Jochem Ketelhuyn. The marriage produced eight children before her husband's death during the 1680s. In 1683, she was identified as a member of the Albany Dutch church.

Previously, she had represented her husband before the Albany court and had been named in legal proceedings herself. She continued to live in their home on Market Street.

Along with three of her sons, widow Anna Ketelhuyn was identified as the head of an Albany household on the census of 1697 - the last reference to her!
