Anna Wendell Van Vechten

by

Anna Wendell was born in April 1741. She was a daughter in the small family of Abraham H. Wendell and his second wife, Elizabeth Wendell. She grew up in a businessman's home in the third ward.

In February 1767, she married Albany native Ephraim Van Vechten at the Albany Dutch church. Her son was born the next year.

These Wendells made their home in the first ward. However, Ephraim was an Indian trader and spent considerable time on the frontier.

Their marriage was not a long one as Anna Wendell Van Vechten was dead by November 1774 when her husband re-married. She had lived for only about thirty years.
