Lydia Van Vechten Cuyler

by

Lydia Van Vechten was born about 1743. She is said to have been the daughter of Dirck and Elizabeth Ten Broeck Van Vechten and was born in Albany. We seek defining information on her background.

In March 1764, she married Albany native Jacob Cuyler. By 1780, seven children had been christened at the Albany Dutch church where she was a member, pewholder, and baptism sponsor.

These Cuylers lived on Pearl Street where Jacob was a mainstay of the Albany business community.

Jacob Cuyler died in 1804. Widow Lydia Van Vechten Cuyler died in February 1808 and was buried from her church. Her will passed probate that June. She had lived sixty-five years.
