Gerritje Van Hoesen De Ridder

by

One Gerritje Van Hoesen was christened at the Lutheran church in Albany on August 20, 1710. Thus, she was the first child born to the marriage of Albany-area residents Johannes Van Hoesen and Willempie Viele. Perhaps her parents lived in the Kinderhook/Catskill part of greater Albany County.

In July 1733, she became the second wife of Cornelis De Ridder, an Albany area widower with two young daughters. At the time of her wedding, Albany Dutch church records called her ("Gerritje Van Noezen") a young woman of Albany - possibly meaning she had not been married previously. By 1741, two of her children had been christened at the Albany church.

We have not yet defined this family's place or residence or means of livelihood. They did receive services from the Albany Dutch church.

However, a "Cornelis Ridder" was buried from the Albany church in April 1744. We seek information regarding the later life and passing of Gerritje Van Hoesen De Ridder.
