Bregje Van Hoesen Arsen

by

Spelled and referred to variously, Bregje Van Hoesen was born in November 1740. She was the first daughter born to the marriage of Albany area residents Volkert and Alida Marselis Van Hoesen. Several of her brothers married and raised families in the area.

In March 1764, she married one "Matheus Aarsen" (Orsen) at the Albany Dutch church. At that time, the partners were identified as "young people" and "both of this city." By 1784, three or four children had been christened at the Albany church.

These Orsens raised their family near the Albany waterfront where Matthew was a ferryman for a number of years.

Perhaps these Arsons/Orsens were living in Greenbush in 1790 where their household (2 men, 2 boys, and 2 females) was configured on the census for Rensselaerswyck.

We seek information on the later life and passing of one-time Albany resident Bregje Van Hoesen Arsen.
