Rachel Vandenbergh probably was born in November 1750. She was the daughter of Gerrit G. and Agnietie Lieversen Vandenbergh. Egbertie Vandenbergh probably was her twin sister.

In February 1771, she married Albany native and recent widower Gerrit T. Visscher at the Dutch church. Their son was christened in Albany five months later.

These Visschers lived on Market Street where Gerrit was a carpenter and builder who owned lots in other parts of the city. For several decades, their third ward home, located near other Visscher houses, was an Albany landmark.

Rachel Vandenbergh Visscher died in October 1799 a few weeks shy of her forty-ninth birthday. She was buried in the Dutch church in the Albany cemetery. Her husband survived until 1805.
