Maria Vanderpoel was born early in 1703. She was the daughter of Albany residents Melgert, Jr. and Catharina Van Allen Vanderpoel. Within a dozen years, her family relocated to the Kinderhook area - where her mother's family owned extensive property.
These Groesbeck lived in Albany near the Elm Tree Corner where David was a carpenter/contractor and active in community-based activities.
Maria Vanderpoel Groesbeck died in January 1757 - having just passed her fifty-fourth birthday. Her husband survived until 1763.
