Cornelia Van Cortlandt Schuyler

by

Cornelia Van Cortlandt was born in New Amsterdam in November 1655. She was the daughter of New Netherland pioneers Olaf Stevense and Anna Loockermans Van Cortlandt.

In July 1682, she married Brandt Schuyler - an Albany resident and a son of one of most prominent upriver families. Following the wedding, these Schuylers took up residence in New York City where their three children were born.

Perhaps Cornelia Van Cortlandt Schuyler died in February 1689. She was not named in the will filed by her husband in 1700. Brandt Schuyler died from smallpox in 1702. However, she was mentioned in the second will filed by her mother-in-law - perhaps in 1707.
