Anna Van Benthuysen Van Allen
Anna Van Benthuysen was born in May 1710. She was the daughter of Barent and Jannet Van Waggenen Van Benthuysen of Kingston.
Following the death of his first wife in 1733, she married Albany skipper Pieter Van Allen. Before his death in 1749 (their last child was baptized on November 15), eight children were christened at the Albany Dutch church.
Following the death of her husband, Anna continued to live in their first ward home along with her coming-of-age bachelor sons, John and Barent, who followed their father in the river trade. In 1756, the home of "Mrs. Van Allen" was configured on the Albany census.
By the mid 1760s, Anna Van Benthuysen Van Allen probably was dead as her sons were identified on community assessments as the head of the Van Allen household. Her sons died during the 1790s.
