Susanna Viele Wendell

by

Susanna Viele was born during the mid-1680s. She was the daughter of Aernout Cornelis and Gerretje Gerrits Viele. She grew up in the homes of a reknowned Albany and Indian country trader and interpreter who had left the Albany area by the early 1700s.

In June 1708, she married Albany native Johannes Je. Wendell at the Albany Dutch church. By 1720, the marriage had produced at least five children.

These Wendells lived modestly yet prominently in Albany's first ward probably until Johannes's death in October 1743.

At this point, we are unsure if Susanna survived her husband's passing.
