Simon Volkertse Veederby
Simon Volkertse was born in the Netherlands in 1624. He was a sailor who emigrated to By 1660, he had liquidated his New York property and settled in Beverwyck where he was counted among the more ambitious fur traders. He also was counted among the original patentees of Schenectady. Later, he held property west of Albany on the Normanskill. He seems to have lived in both Albany and Schenectady.
In 1679, his Albany property was taxed to help maintain the stockade.
Simon Volkertse Veeder filed a will in January 1697. It mentioned his wife, Engeltie, and eight living children. The will passed probate in April 1713. |
