Maria Schuyler Cuyler
by
Stefan Bielinski

Maria Schuyler was born in April 1726. She was the daughter of Albany merchant Jeremiah and Susanna Bayeux Schuyler. She grew up in Albany and at her father's farm at the Flats.

In May 1745, she married Albany merchant Nicholas Cuyler at the Albany Dutch church. The marriage of this nineteen-year-old to a man a decade older produced at least three children before her untimely death.

Maria Schuyler Cuyler was buried at the Flats but from the Albany church early in February 1750. She had not yet reached her twenty-fourth birthday. Her husband does not appear to have married yet he survived for several decades.
