Gertrude Schuyler Guest

by

Gertrude Schuyler was born in July 1775. She was the youngest daughter of Dirck and Mary Van Deusen Schuyler. Her Albany-born father was a one-time skipper and veteran of the War for Independence. Her mother was a native of New York City.

In March 1787, her deceased mother's children were considered (but not named) in the will filed by her maternal grandfather.

About 1793, Geertruy married newcomer Thomas Guest. Between 1795 and 1811, eight children had been christened at the Albany Dutch church.

In 1800, the couple was living in a modest house on Van Schaick Street.
