Anna Staats Marselisby
Anna Staats was born in October 1733. She was the daughter of Isaac and Maria Van Deusen Staats. She grew up in the first ward. In February 1761, she married Gysbert G. Marselis at the Albany Dutch church. By 1772, five children had been christened in Albany where she was a member and pewholder. This Marselis family lived on Pearl Street. Gysbert was a businessman and Hudson River skipper. For much of their marriage, they lived either in or near the house of her mother-in-law. Anna buried her husband in March 1802. Later that year, the Pearl Street house the "widow of Gysbert Marselis" was valued on the city assessment roll. Anna Staats Marselis died some time thereafter.
