Maria Quackenbush Wyngaert

by

Maria Quackenbush probably was born during the 1680s. She was the daughter of Johannes and Machtelt Post Quackenbush who raised their family just north of the city of Albany and south of the Mohawk at Canastigione.

In November 1700, she married Jacob Luycasse Wyngaert at the Albany Dutch church. By 1721, nine children had been christened at the church.

These Wyngaerts lived modestly in the third ward until Jacob Luycasse's death in 1727.

A middle-aged widow with small children, Maria Quackenbush Wyngaert was left to raise a large family. She may have been the "Mary Wyngaert" buried in the church in August 1757.
