Anna Pruyn Van Iveren
by
Stefan Bielinski

Anna Pruyn was born in May 1665. She was the daughter of French-ancestry New Netherland pioneers Frans and Alida Pruyn. She grew up in Albany's second ward in the home of a mainstay tailor/trader.

In June 1686, she married Waerner Carstens Van Iveren at the Albany Dutch church. By 1704, two children had been christened in Albany where she was a member and regular baptism sponsor.

The couple made their home on Pearl Street near those of their surviving parents. For the next two decades, they too were Albany mainstays.

Anna Pruyn Van Iveren died in November 1722 and was buried beneath the church. Her husband passed sometime afterwards.
