by
Stefan Bielinski

Mayke Oothout born about 1670. She was the daughter of Greenbush brewer Jan Janse and Hendrickie Van Ness Oothout. She was one of five children named in her father's will of 1688.

In November 1697, she married Thomas Harmanse Hun. By 1712, nine of their children were baptized in the Albany Dutch church where she was member and frequent baptism sponsor.

These Huns lived in Albany's third ward where Thomas was a prominent trader, official, and landholder.

Thomas Hun died in 1716 at the age of forty-eight leaving his widow and older daughter to raise their large family. Mayke Oothout Hun died sometime after she witnessed a baptism in September 1727. She may have lived until October 1759!
