Zytie Marselis Van Zandt
by
Stefan Bielinski

Zytie Marselis probably was born in the Albany area during the mid-1660s. That would have made her the daughter "Sytie" mentioned in the will filed by Marselis Jans Van Bommel (Marselis) in 1690.

This individual had married Joseph Janse Van Zandt in the Albany Dutch church in July 1688. Their ten children were baptized there between 1689 and 1709.

She raised her family in a modest home on Albany's southside where the Van Zandts were prominent residents.

Near her eightieth birthday, Zytie Marselis Van Zandt died in 1745. She was buried from the Albany Dutch church where she was a longtime member. Her husband lived until 1753.
