This Marselis family also made its home in the second ward where Gerrit was a "schipper" and city officer. He served as firemaster in 1732 and was elected alderman in 1754 and 1755. In 1742 and 1763, his name was found on Albany freeholders' lists.
Gerrit Marselis was dead by 1779 when his widow was the owner of record on a city assessment roll. She survived until 1800.
