Thomas Long

by

Thomas Long was in Albany in 1720. We seek defining information on his origins and path to Albany. A number of same-named individuals are at risk in North America (most prominately in Maryland and New England) during his lifetime.

In April 1714, the name of Thos. Long" appeared on the roster of Albany militia company under the command of Capt. Peter Matthews. At that time, he was listed under "Centinells (Private Soldiers)" [sic].

In 1720, his name appeared on a list of freeholders in the third ward. That appears to be the sole reference to Thomas Long (maybe Lang) in the community-based record.

His name has not been encountered in the extant records of Albany churches.

A Thomas Long was listed with those taxable in Franklin County, Pennsylvania in 1751-52.

We recognize that this posting on one-time Albany resident Thomas Long is pre-mature.
