Susanna La Grange Evertsen
by
Stefan Bielinski

Susanna La Grange was born in September 1723. She was the daughter of Jacobus and Engeltie Veeder La Grange of Schenectady.

In October 1740, Susanna may have been only seventeen-years-old when she married twenty-four-year-old Johannes Evertsen in the Lutheran church. By 1763, the marriage had produced at least ten children who were baptized in Albany-area churches

These Evertsens lived in Albany's North End where Johannes made a modest living as a cooper and cryer. Her brother was Albany resident Arie La Grange.

Susanna La Grange Evertsen was not mentioned in the will of her husband that passed probate in March 1791. In fact, the last notice of her life was at the baptism of her child thirty years earlier!
